Three volumes, 12 mo. A very good first edition in three volumes of Austen's third published novel. Handsome leather binding, not original boards. Written between 1811 and 1813, Mansfield Park was the first of her works conceived and wholly written at Chawton. Published in May 1814 in an edition of around 1250 copies, the first edition was quickly sold out in a matter of months. The sale of the book was on a commission basis, with Austen retaining the copyright. A first edition set in original boards sold at Christie's in September, 2021, for $275,000.
