New York: Random House, 1950. Seuss, Dr. First. hardcover. Near fine / Very good. Item #2103605
A near fine first edition, in a very good dust jacket, with the correct list of titles on the back cover of the book and the back panel of the dust jacket. Later printings added more titles to the back cover. This first edition has the original material which resulted in the recent decision of the Seuss estate to cease further publication of the book. However, even the most censorial reader will be hard pressed to find anything in the book that could be considered objectionable, much less racist, and certainly not by 1950's standards. Still, bound to be a collectible artifact forever for this artist, probably the most popular creator of illustrated children's books in history, at least based on books sold, read and reread, and enjoyed by children discovering the joy of reading.
