The very rare and important uncorrected proof of this massive collection. The proof contains a story ("Heart Transplant") starting on page 858 that was replaced by another story when the first edition was published. The explanation is apparently that Knopf was ready to publish the book before Playboy magazine was ready to publish the story, but that Playboy has a contract right to first publication. So Bradbury and Knopf had to delete the story from the book and replace it with another one. The story appeared in the proof but not the book itself. Also contains a "fact sheet" from Knopf showing an October publication (thus Bradbury's reference to Halloween) and a last minute price change from $15.95 to $17.95.
